The BD Vacutainer tourniquet is a single use, latex-free tourniquet that is able to stretch.

The Vacutainer tourniquet comes with a band type fastening to aid in the support of phlebotomy and venipuncture procedures such as blood collection, intravenous infusion and more.

Tourniquet use helps to distend the veins, making them easier to locate and access. By applying pressure proximal to the site of puncture, the tourniquet temporarily slows down venous blood flow, causing the veins to become more prominent and easier to visualise and palpate. With the veins distended, it becomes simpler for the healthcare professional to insert the needle accurately into the vein, reducing the chances of missed attempts or multiple needle sticks.
